In March 2024, OnIn and Platform Center for Social Design conducted a nationwide online survey among Russian adults over 18, named “How Does Management of Russian Businesses Treat Their Work?”
The conclusions were as follows: 64% of the 1,200 respondents engaged in intellectual labor in the business sector reported that they had to work overtime. Half of those employees who work in companies with a democratic management culture accept it as normal.
However, employees of companies with a democratic management culture are more satisfied with their work (91% v. 67% of employees of companies with an authoritarian style of management). They are also more comfortable with working during crunch times: 51% accepted them as normal compared to only 33% of those in authoritarian companies. Curiously, the share of those who do not have to stay late to do overtime is about the same – 35% v. 34%, respectively.
